Pacers' Mathurin Out for Season, Undergoes Right Shoulder Surgery

Indiana Pacers guard Bennedict Mathurin will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder, the team announced on March 9, 2024.

Mathurin, 22, suffered the injury in an NBA In-Season Tournament game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday night.

The Pacers initially announced that Mathurin would be out day-to-day, but further evaluation revealed the need for surgery.

Mathurin has been a key contributor for the Pacers this season, averaging 17.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game. He is the team's leading scorer and has started all 60 games he has played.

The Pacers will be without Mathurin for the remainder of the season, including the playoffs if they qualify. The team is currently 30-30 and is fighting for a spot in the Eastern Conference play-in tournament.
